Popularity on fanconcert is determined by the number of groups the object is a member of. For example, you can add an artist to your Favourite Artists group.
The left menu has links to the lists of the most popular artists, releases and concerts.
You may also add artists to a the Needs Updating group, so that others know that the artist needs to be updated. You might do this when you don't have time to do it yourself. A link to the list of artists most needing updating is also on the left menu.
